On 6 December 2025, IILAT in collaboration with The Honourable Society of Inner Temple will be holding a one day advocacy training for lawyers of 5+ years experience practicing at international criminal tribunals. The training will take place at the International Criminal Court in The Hague and is designed for advocates working for the Prosecution, Defence and Victims Legal Representative teams.

 

The advocacy training will be delivered by: Trainers from the Inner Temple (TBC), Judge Joanna Korner  (ICC Judge), Sarah Bafahdel (ICC Counsel), Leonie von Braun (ICC Senior Trial Attorney), Kamran Choudhry (Judge).. 

 

Participants will practise the skills of witness examination, cross-examination and delivering a closing statement. The exercises will be using an in-house developed case of Prosecutor v Walkinshaw, that was presented by Grahame Aldous KC during his Case Analysis Workshop on 7 October 2025.

 

This training is an excellent opportunity to improve your advocacy skills with the help of some of the most experienced and respected advocates in the field of international criminal law and interact with fellow legal professionals from different institutions in The Hague. 

 

Participation is limited to only 18 persons. IILAT will aim to ensure balanced gender and geographical representation as well as make sure that participants from different institutions have an opportunity to participate. The training is free of charge. 

 

The programme of the training will run the whole day on Saturday, 6 December 2025. Upon completion, participants will receive the IILAT certificate of attendance. ​
